Check Flash-usb drives for errors
http://www.technibble.com/repair-tool-of-the-week-check-flash/
Check Flash (aka ChkFlsh) is a small, stand alone, portable utility designed to check the health of flash drives. The most useful part of Check Flash is that it can run a read and write test on the drive. During the read and write test it fills the flash drive up with a temporary file to make sure the flash drive is the size that it says it is. This is an issue as many fake flash drives like the cheap ones available on eBay are hacked to report to Windows that they are 8GB or so, but are really only 64mb.
Check Flash also has a “drive map” section which will show you any bad sectors on your flash drive.
Check Flash can also run a readability test on the drive and save/load an image of the files on the drive for backup purposes

ProcessScanner-scan running processes for virus and malware
http://www.processlibrary.com/processscan/
Display all of the service and programs running on your PC.
ProcessScanner does double-duty: It helps improve your PC's performance, and helps ensure it's not infected with malware of some kind. It does this by scanning your PC and displaying every single service, process, and application currently running, and giving you detailed information about each. Based on what you find, you can then disable the application or service, or do a spyware or anti-virus scan.
ProcessScanner works in concert with the well-known ProcessLibrary.com site–a free, online database that lists services, processes, and programs, and gives information about each. Run ProcessScanner, and after a short while, it displays its results in an HTML page. Double-click any service, process, or program, and you're sent to the ProcessLibrary.com listing about it. You'll find a description of it, advice on whether it might be dangerous, all in a great amount of detail. Given that this program is free, it's a must-have for anyone looking to improve system performance, or who wants to regularly check to see whether malware has made it onto their system.

ShadowExplorer-browse vista shadow copy of files
http://www.shadowexplorer.com/
ShadowExplorer allows you to browse the shadow copies created by the Windows® VistaTM Volume Shadow Copy Service. It's especially thought for users of the home editions, who don't have access to the shadow copies by default, but it's also useful for users of the other editions.
Shadow Copy
From time to time, Windows® VistaTM creates point-in-time copies of your files. This allows you to retrieve older versions from files you accidentally deleted or altered. This service is turned on by default on all versions of Windows® VistaTM, but Microsoft grants access to these copies only in Ultimate, Business, and Enterprise editions. This is where ShadowExplorer comes into play. For more information on Shadow Copy, visit Microsofts website.
ShadowExplorer
Since the Volume Shadow Copy Service is included, and turned on by default, in all editions of Windows® VistaTM, why not take advantage of it? All it takes is an additional tool like ShadowExplorer, that can access the shadow storage and make the point-in-time copies accessible to the user.
Features
* Show available point-in-time copies
* Browse through Shadow Copies
* Retrieve versions of files and folders
Limitations
Shadow Copies and ShadowExplorer are in no way a replacement for regular backups! This is very important and can't be stressed enough. A Shadow Copy is kept on the same disc as the original data. In case of a disc failure all data is lost, including the Shadow Copies. ShadowExplorer is a good addition to regular backups, but not a
replacement.
