DbxConv – convert outlook express to std mbox

http://freenet-homepage.de/ukrebs/english/dbxconv.html

This program will extract the messages from an Outlook Express (5.0 – 6.0) mailbox and convert it either to the standard mbox or the Outlook Express eml format. The advantage of saving your mail in mbox format is, that it's a plain text format, which can be read by many mail-clients. Converting to eml format is a convenient way to re-import the messages into Outlook Express. The handling of eml export is a little bit smarter than the one offered by Outlook Express itself. Outlook Express will overwrite messages with same sender and subject, while DbxConv enumerates the messages, so you can be sure none is lost due to conversion.

Keep Running-launch a program and ensure it stays running

http://jpelectron.com/readme/keeprun.asp

Keep Running allows you to launch a program and ensure it stays running. This could be to restart a crashed application or prevent something from being closed accidentally. Useful in a kiosk, library, school, website demo, or web-based application such as a self-registration/signup type of environment. Alternatively, use Keep Running as a custom shell so an application such as Internet Explorer is the only available program and to automatically re-launch it or restart the machine if closed.

ServiceEx is a freeware Windows application that allows a normal program to run as a Windows service. Currently it is command line only. A version with a GUI is forthcoming. In the meantime, configuration options are specified via an .ini file that must be created prior to running ServiceEx.

ServiceEx differs from Microsoft's srvany in that it monitors the program and relaunches it whenever it shuts down for any reason. If you do not wish to have this behavior, you can turn it off. A link to download it is provided below

ARP Cache Watch monitors Windows ARP cache

http://www.nsauditor.com/network_tools/arp_cache_monitoring.html

ARP Cache Watch monitors Windows ARP cache and allows to send an ARP request to obtain the physical address that corresponds to the specified destination IP address. The ARP cache contains IP address / MAC address translations so that every time an IP packet are to be sent, the MAC address doesn't have to queried through a broadcast, instead it can use the cached address.

Flexcrypt- encryption and decryption of your emails

http://www.flexcrypt.com/flexcryptfree.html

Flexcrypt is a small software application that enables encryption and decryption of your emails. The reason for encrypting is to ensure the integrity and privacy of your email. Flexcrypt is very easy to install and use. After installation, simply add the email addresses you wish to send and receive encrypted emails with.

For each address, you must make up a password. This password is the key used in order to decrypt the message, thus, you must inform the receiver of the encrypted email of your chosen password. Do this by phone or in person, NOT by un-encrypted email. This only has to be done once, after that, Flexcrypt will remember your password and encrypt/decrypt your messages automatically or as you choose.

PasteCopy.NET-Simple .NET Paste Copy Clipboard Utility

http://www.pastecopy.net/

small, simple clipboard utility, to help reduce the workload. I'm not sure where it's going, but I'll guess I just keep modifying it along the way.

Paste Copy is the very first application I've made in the programming language .NET, and I've only spent about 5 minutes to learn it, so don't expect to much, quite yet…

How to use Paste Copy

    * Download and save PasteCopy.exe
    * From the file menu, add at least one category
    * Now you copy some text using Ctrl+C or right mouse button
    * Select one of the categories you created in Paste Copy, and click "Add Clipboard to Selected Category"
    * Once you have added all phrases, you click on a phrase and it will be copied to the clipboard
    * Finally you paste the phrase somewhere, using Ctrl+V or right mouse-click
    *
    * The number on the filemenu is the length of the selected phrase

X-Mouse Button Control – remap your mouse buttons

http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/XMouseButtonControl.htm

X-Mouse Button Control is a windows application to remap your mouse buttons.
This software is designed and written for Microsoft Windows XP/2003 x64 Edition but I have also, from version 1.5, built a 32bit version.

You are able to provide an application specific mappings, which means one application can use the mouse differently from another. This is useful for games which do not inherently support the extended mouse buttons, because you can map keys to each button.

What's more, the list of functions available to map to is somewhat more comprehensive than the 32bit MS Intellimouse Software can handle, including things like:

    Copy/Cut/Paste
    Volume Up/Down/Mute
    Media Player control
    Send a custom keystroke sequence
Launch you email (or any) application.
Capture screen (or active window) image to clipboard.
    Click-Drag [Sticky Buttons].
Vista support with some Vista only featurs such as 'Show Sidebar', 'Flip 3D' etc.

WinSock XP Fix-fix XP internet connectivity

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html

WinSock XP Fix offers a last resort if your Internet connectivity has been corrupted due to invalid or removed registry entries. It can often cure the problem of lost connections after the removal of Adware components or improper uninstall of firewall applications or other tools that modify the XP network and Winsock settings. If you encounter connection problems after removing network related software, Adware or after registry clean-up; and all other ways fail, then give WinSock XP Fix a try. It can create a registry backup of your current settings, so it is fairly safe to use. We actually tested it on a test machine that was having a Winsock problem due to some Adware removal, and after running the utility and rebooting, the connectivity was restored.

Live View-mount disk images-physical drives in virtual machine

http://liveview.sourceforge.net/index.html

Live View is a tool that allows disk images or physical drives to be booted up in a virtual machine and examined in a forensically sound manner.  Live View redirects all changes to a scratch file leaving the original image untouched. Live View works just fine on images set as read-only and will even alert the user if the image they are booting is not set as such. One can also run a cryptographic checksum on the image before and after booting with Live View to verify the integrity of the evidence. Live handles exact bit-for-bit (raw) images of disks such as those created with 'dd'. Live View is also capable of booting physical disks (not images) attached to the computer directly or via a USB or FireWire bridge. Other image formats (such as EnCase) are not directly supported, but can be booted as physical disks with the use of third party image mounting software such as Mount Image Pro  or Physical Disk Emulator. Images can also often be converted to standard bit-for-bit images. For example, the FTK Imager http://www.accessdata.com/support/  can convert Encase images into a standard DD image for use with Live View.

Mount That DD Image with VMWare -Now what if you want to mount one of the partitions to a drive and scan it with a virus scanner or some other tool? Well now you can, by using the 4 Perl scripts and executables I created. The zip file containing the Perl scripts and executables can be found here.

Prefetch information- parse a prefetch file for Information

http://cfed-ttf.blogspot.com/2008/02/prefetch-information.html

Here is a quick and dirty program to parse a prefetch file and output some important information. It is only a command line program currently and does not use a database or scan the prefetch directory (I know I am slacking and that would be some good improvements to make and pretty easy). What it will do is parse the prefetch file giving you the standard information that other programs have given ie: embedded date, number of time run and executable name plus a list of directories and files that are/have been loaded. The program can be found here.

Offline Folder/CSC directory-recovery

http://cfed-ttf.blogspot.com/2008/03/csc-parser-version-20.html

Offline Folder/CSC directory I thought I update the software. You can find version 2.0 here. It has changed in that it uses drop down menus now instead of buttons. When you try and recover files you have 2 choices using the 00000002 or the csc1.tmp file. Both options will now copy the files that can be recovered to a directory of your choosing. Remember that you must have a good copy of the 00000002 or the csc1.tmp file. To run the program just unzip into a directory and run the program csc_parser.exe. I have removed the source code this time but this program is still free for personal use, for commercial use please contact me about using this program.

Now for those users who have reinitialized there offline folder/csc then I also have a program that might work for you as it scans the CSC folder and trys and rebuilds what was there. This is the professional version of the csc_parser. This program can be purchased for $50.00 (button is on the side of the blog). This program will also have the above functionality in it as well.

Start++ create custom vista run command aliases

http://brandonlive.com/2007/02/22/new-tool-i-made-for-vista-start/

configuration UI, which lets you create your own custom commands / aliases.

Like I said, this is kind of something I threw together, so it might still have some bugs, and I’ll probably add more to it when I get the time on weekends and such.  Anyway, let me know what you think.

I’ve decided to share a little tool that I wrote on a whim a week or two ago for Vista.  This is a personal project of mine, not related to MS in any way.

Users of WDS on XP may recall the “Deskbar Shortcuts” functionality that allows you to create little aliases between words or characters with commands and searches.  For example, you could set up the Deskbar so that you could type “g Stuff” to search for the work “Stuff” on Google.  You could also launch programs, run scripts with parameters, and more.

Windows Vista replaced the Deskbar with Instant Search built-in to the Start menu, which is totally awesome.  Unfortunately, it lacks all of that fun shortcut functionality that the Deskbar had.  Unless you have my tool, which for the time being I’m calling Start++.
