Netsparker-web application security scanner

http://www.mavitunasecurity.com/netsparker/

We thought that if you need to investigate every single identified issue manually what’s the point of having an automated scanner? So we developed a new technology which can confirm vulnerabilities on demand  which allowed us to develop the first false positive free web application security scanner.  Powerful AJAX – JavaScript Support
Thanks to its comprehensive and powerful JavaScript engine it’s possible to simulate a real attacker successfully. This means it can successfully analyse websites that rely on AJAX and JavaScript.  Shows You the Real Impact
If “a picture is worth a thousand words”, then seeing the impact of a vulnerability is worth a thousand pages of report. Instead of only telling what the security issue in your application is, it’ll show you what an attacker might accomplish by exploiting it. Our scanner can exploit identified vulnerabilities with just a couple of clicks.

PREDATOR protects your PC with a USB flash drive

http://www.montpellier-informatique.com/predator/en/index.php?n=Main.HomePage

PREDATOR locks your PC when you are away, even if your Windows session is still opened.
It uses a regular USB flash drive as an access control device, and works as follows:
protect your computer with a flash drive

  • you insert the USB drive
  • you run PREDATOR (autostart with Windows is possible)
  • you do your work…
  • when you’re away from your PC, you simply remove the USB drive:
  • once it is removed, the keyboard and mouse are disabled and the screen darkens
  • when you return back to your PC, you put the USB flash drive in place: keyboard and mouse are immediately released, and the display is restored.

Autorun Eater – remove suspicious ‘autorun.inf’ files

http://en.wordpress.com/tag/autorun-eater/

Autorun Eater is NOT an anti-virus nor does it pretend to be one. Autorun Eater is meant to work side-by-side with your AV application.

As more and more malwares resort to ‘autorun.inf’ file tactics, there has been a need for such a tool, especially for new users. Of course there are other ways to avoid the ‘autorun.inf’ malware trap such as right-clicking-explore, but how many are actually aware of such a method.

Wouldn’t it be better if it was already deleted even before you access the infected drive?

What are some of the features of Autorun Eater?

1. Scan and remove suspicious ‘autorun.inf’ files found in the root directory of drives, A-Z, in real-time
2. Hotkey enabled to toggle scan
3. Start, Stop or Pause scan
4. Scan priority(normal/high)
5. Scan results are logged
6. Add and remove from startup entry

And most importantly, it’s free!

ManTech Memory DD captures ram Memory

http://www.mantech.com/msma/MDD.asp

ManTech Memory DD captures a record of physical, or random access memory which is lost when the computer is shutdown. Released at no charge under the GPL license for government and private use, ManTech's Memory DD (MDD) is capable of acquiring memory images from the following Microsoft® products: Windows® 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP®, Windows Vista®, and Windows Server 2008.

ManTech's Memory DD 1.0 acquires a forensic image of physical memory and stores it as a raw binary file. To help verify data integrity and aid in the preservation of the evidence, the information captured by ManTech Memory DD is checked by the Message-Digest algorithm 5 (MD5), the common Internet standard used in security applications. The binary file can then be analyzed using external tools to identify items of interest to the examiner.

NetSurveyor-WiFi network discovery tool

http://www.performancewifi.net/performance-wifi/main/netsurveyor.htm

NetSurveyor is an 802.11 (WiFi) network discovery tool and, as such, its goal in life is to  gather information about nearby wireless access points in real time and display it in a useful way.  Similar in purpose to NetStumbler, it includes many more features.  The data is displayed using a variety of different diagnostic views and charts.  Data can be recorded for extended periods and played-back at a later date/time.  Also, reports can be generated in Adobe PDF format.  Applications for NetSurveyor include the following:     * During the installation of a wireless network, as an aid in verifying the network is properly configured and antennas are positioned at locations to achieve efficient transmission / reception — that is, for use in verifying WiFi coverage and maximizing beacon signal strength    * Trouble-shooting an existing network or wireless environment that is performing poorly
    * Reporting the presence of Wi-Fi networks and local access points and the signal strengths of their beacons
    * Conducting wireless site surveys where the installer is interested in learning about the coverage of a new or existing access point, roaming capability, presence of RF interference or “dead spots”, and optimum location of access points, their antennas and client stations
    * In a secure business environment, for use in detecting the presence of rogue access points
    * As a learning tool to help understand the relationship between access points (BSSIDs), wireless networks (SSIDs), and client stations (STAs)

Combofix-fix malware infections

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

ComboFix is a program, created by sUBs, that scans your computer for known malware, and when found, attempts to clean these infections automatically. In addition to being able to remove a large amount of the most common and current malware, ComboFix also displays a log when it is finished that contains a great deal of information that an experienced helper can use to diagnose, retrieve samples of, and remove infections that are not automatically removed.

Due to the power of this tool it is strongly advised that you do not attempt to act upon any of the information displayed by ComboFix without supervision from someone who has been properly trained. If you do so, it may lead to problems with the normal functionality of your computer.

Please note that this guide is the only authorized guide for the use of ComboFix and cannot be copied without permissions from BleepingComputer.com and sUBs. It is also understood that the use of ComboFix is done at your own risk.

iKill-Selectively remove harmful USB autoruns

http://arpantech.aphelic.com/downloads/software/security/iKill.htm

In general a USB drive of any kind, a pendrive, ipod, mp3 Players, mobile phones, all
may contain viruses, they just act as carriers, the viruses/trojans exploit the autorun.inf file
to execute themselves whenever you try to open the drive by double clicking. They even may
shadow the Open, Explore, Search, etc, other features using the shell commands.. like..

shell\Explore\command = virus.exe

Here, when you right click on the drive icon and click on Explore, virus.exe would be launched,
infecting the whole system, and then it will start spreading by any means possible…

Adeona-opensource laptop recovery system

http://adeona.cs.washington.edu/

Adeona is the first Open Source system for tracking the location of your lost or stolen laptop that does not rely on a proprietary, central service. This means that you can install Adeona on your laptop and go — there's no need to rely on a single third party. What's more, Adeona addresses a critical privacy goal different from existing commercial offerings. It is privacy-preserving. This means that no one besides the owner (or an agent of the owner's choosing) can use Adeona to track a laptop. Unlike other systems, users of Adeona can rest assured that no one can abuse the system in order to track where they use their laptop.Adeona is designed to use the Open Source OpenDHT distributed storage service to store location updates sent by a small software client installed on an owner's laptop. The client continually monitors the current location of the laptop, gathering information (such as IP addresses and local network topology) that can be used to identify its current location. The client then uses strong cryptographic mechanisms to not only encrypt the location data, but also ensure that the ciphertexts stored within OpenDHT are anonymous and unlinkable. At the same time, it is easy for an owner to retrieve location information.
